Using Named Cells Creating Deleting and Ranges in Formulas

Instead of referring to cells and ranges by their location or cell reference, you can use the name of the cell or range. The Define Name dialog box helps you manage the Names that are being used. Instead of referring to cells and ranges by their location or cell reference, you can use the name of the cell or range. When choosing a name for cells and ranges, you should consider the following:

♦Functions are predefined formulas that perform calculations by using specific values, called arguments, in a particular order, called the syntax or structure . For example, the SUM function adds values or ranges of cells, and the PMT function calculates the loan payments based on an interest rate, the length of the loan, and the principal amount of the loan.

♦Arguments can be numbers, text, logical values such as TRUE or FALSE, or cell references. The argument you designate must produce a valid value for that argument. Arguments can also be constants, formulas, or other functions.

                *   To get help information while in a dialog box:
 1. Either click the question mark (if exists) at the dialog box title bar, or select the command (Help What’s this?).  
 2.  Click the item you want information about. 
 3.  To close the pop-up window, click inside it.
